Brazilian Federal Judge Bruno Dutra brings more than two decades of judicial and academic experience to the legal dimensions of healthcare, including civil liability, fundamental rights, and complex professional relationships.
Bruno Dutra is a Brazilian Federal Judge currently serving as the Presiding Federal Judge of the Federal Court of Serra, EspĂrito Santo, within Brazil’s Federal Judiciary of the 2nd Region.
He graduated in Law from Fluminense Federal University (UFF), where he also earned a Master’s Degree in Law and Sociology. He is currently a doctoral student in Public Law at Université de Paris Nanterre, in Paris, France.
He joined the Brazilian Federal Judiciary in 2002, following professional experience at Fluminense Federal University and as an attorney at Caixa EconĂ´mica Federal, where he also held a legal coordination position. Over more than two decades in the federal judiciary branch, he has developed extensive experience in the analysis of civil liability, fundamental rights, and complex legal relationships.
His academic and professional background combines extensive judicial experience with a comparative legal perspective, with particular interest in the civil liability of healthcare professionals, including duties of care, diagnosis and disclosure, as well as the legal consequences of negligent acts and omissions.
He is also the author of three chapters in the book *Oral Frenula and Breastfeeding*, addressing civil liability arising from the professional practice of healthcare providers.
