Why Does my child still Lisp? The Epigenetics of Tethered oral tissues, their impacts and why your child may need further releases.
Children will often present in clinic at 8 years or older with indications of TOTs, dyspraxis, airway maladaptation, bite derangement and craniofacial maldevelopment after having had release in the first few months of life, the parent asks why, they had a Tongue Tie release and the Dental surgeon is on their honour claiming to have released that child perfectly without complication.
In this seminar I will explore why this so commonly occurs. We will review epigenetics and NCCs and their role in creating the aerodigestive tract, how this impacts craniofacial growth, and leads to oral tissue restriction in later years. How this ongoing tethering impacts nervous systems development and can lead to ADHD-LIKE symptoms in growing children and to immune dysregulation via mast cells.
