With more than 30 years of academic, scientific, and clinical experience, Prof. Dr. Luciane Hiramatsu Azevedo is a leading expert in laser dentistry, photobiomodulation, and evidence-based laser applications in oral care.
Prof. Dr. Luciane Hiramatsu Azevedo, DDS, MSc, PhD, is a professor in the Graduate Program in Dentistry at the University of São Paulo School of Dentistry (FOUSP), Brazil, as well as a dentist and researcher at the Special Laboratory of Lasers in Dentistry (LELO/FOUSP).
She holds a PhD in Oral Diagnosis from the University of São Paulo School of Dentistry and a Master of Science degree in Nuclear Technology from the Nuclear and Energy Research Institute (IPEN), where she also completed postdoctoral training at the Center for Lasers and Applications.
She is a specialist in Pediatric Dentistry and Oral Medicine and has more than 30 years of academic, scientific, and clinical experience in the application of lasers in dentistry. Her work encompasses laser-tissue interaction, photobiomodulation, surgical laser applications, and the development of evidence-based clinical protocols.
She is a national and international speaker with extensive scientific and academic production. She is the author and co-author of three books in the fields of laser dentistry and oral frenula, in addition to numerous scientific publications and articles and contributions to multiple book chapters.
Through teaching, research, scientific publishing, and professional education, she contributes to the advancement of laser dentistry and to the safe and scientifically grounded integration of laser technologies into clinical practice.
